"Trick or treat!" - Almost Everyone

Party on,

Breaking News!

Autumn is here, the leaves are changing (unless of course, you live in the desert as do I), temperatures are dropping, winds are blowing and thoughts of bags full of candy and treats get our taste buds to salivating.  It's a beautiful season and perfect for getting the creative juices flowing.  You'll want a voice for those creative thoughts.  Well, you've just found it.

Let me assist you in getting your message out this fall season.  Call or e-mail me (contacts available under my banner at the top) for professional voice branding for next audio project.

O'Zapft Is!

It means, "the barrel has been tapped".  And it officially announces Oktoberfest around the world.  Oktoberfest is celebrated from September 22nd to October 10th.  It's the world's largest beer festival and nearly every city and town celebrates it in some form.  Since I grew up in Milwaukee when there were actual breweries there, I am a beer fanatic.  Attend one of these parties, but be sure you have a designated driver!  Here's the official site link:  Oktoberfest

Sidewalk Santas, Comb Your Beards!

Okay, it's September and fall is imminent.  Retailers are preparing for the holidays, checking inventories, managing stock and planning their advertising campaigns.  I'd sure like to be a part of it.  Please feel free to contact me for your next voiceover project.

Get Your Song On!

October means that it's time for Season 5 of the Tucson Idol Finals, our local knockoff to the Fox TV hit.  We started Tucson Idol in 2004 and little did I know of the extraordinary local, amateur talent to be found right here in the Desert Southwest.  Three of our former Tucson Idol contestants went on to audition for American Idol with one of them making it through the first two rounds.  If you're in the area, please be my guest.  Our Finals show is held on Saturday, October 6th and it's family friendly.

Technician's Corner

Remember that computer I told you I built last month.  Well - it's still smokin' hot and it's still working.  Whew!

I've also recently acquired a full-blown, audio/video, extra storage, FM tuner, recorder Media Player.  I specifically purchased it to view movies when travelling by air and to catch up on podcasts.  Have you heard the voiceover podcasts at voices-dot-com?  Very well-produced, brief and quite informative, too.  So much so, that I subscribed!  You can find them here:  podcasts

Marketing News for Voice Artists

Because marketing is in a constant state of flux, I subscribe to several newsletters on the subject.  More often than not, I am amazed at the good information I am able to glean from these newsletters.  One of the more recent articles I read opens up an entire new market for voiceover professionals.  An excerpt follows:

Web-videos are not feature films or even viral videos intended to show how clever you are. You are making a commercial: special effects may be cool but they are not a substitute for a finely crafted script delivered by a professional performer.

Six Questions That Produce Successful Web Advertising

And, oh yes... I brand web site presentations as well!

Other Marketing News

Most people average more than 3,000 commercial message exposures a day, and the volume continues to grow. (Reality check: After you've bought your next $12 movie ticket, count the commercials and previews you have to sit through before the film begins). Creating clear, concise messages that are smoothly integrated is absolutely crucial to successful customer communications.

That's because, despite all the new technologies, this marketing principle hasn't changed: You must start with a relevant position, supported by consistent communications, to achieve a desired position with your target audience.
