Comcast and E-Mail

I’ve been having a ton of issues recently with Comcast e-mail. Apparently, Comcast is blocking e-mail from domains I’ve been receiving e-mail for years. Interestingly enough, some of these blocks include some of the biggest sites on the internet (i.e., PayPal, Amazon.com, etc).

When I recently spoke with them concerning this issue, I was told all domains will require the outgoing (SMTP) server port be set to 587 (default is usually 25) and that this is a new FCC regulation. I had never heard of this before. But, I can’t help but think that if this was indeed the case, those huge domains would certainly be aware of this.

Anyway, if you’re having problems receiving your e-mail and you use Comcast as your ISP would you please share with me here. If I can get enough responses, I can go back to Comcast and see if anything can be done…

… or, I can change ISP’s. :(

How about this? Comcast Security apparently read this post and called me not once, but twice from 2 different locations to offer assistance with this problem. This assistance came directly from Comcast Executive offices in Philadelphia. The rep was pleasant and answered my questions satisfactorily. However, since I may have lost business as a result of the problem, they offered no remuneration or compromise of any sort.

    Who says blogs don’t work?
