Forget the small stuff - pay attention to your health…
The recession, the layoffs - how will I pay my mortgage? Gotta get the kids to school, gotta do the grocery shopping… and the list goes on.
How does one cope?
I recently had my eyes opened when my feet and legs began to swell… and swell… and swell. I ended up in the emergency room and subsequently to a cardiologist. Turns out I have an enlarged heart, aka congestive heart failure. Usually not a deadly heart condition, it is chronic and requires a littany of medications and doctor visits.
My condition began about five weeks ago and I have little relief yet from the swelling. I’m told this is not particularly unusual, but I’m here to tell you it’s extremely unpleasant, although not painful. My appetite is in the shitter, I’m having big trouble getting sleep and I cannot dress myself nor go anywhere because of it.
I am a fighter. I can be stubborn and obstinate. And, I’ll recover from these symptoms. But, I’m at a point where I’d sure like to know when. The docs say it’s different for each patient. I’m not used to being infirmed and unable to live independently. For me, that’s very frustrating.
Thank God for voiceover. It’s still something I can do while infirmed! I can only hope that, for now, voiceover will be my salvation.
Take care of your health! Doc’s advice for the day.
